Meru National Park is paradise, an adventure destination for wildlife safaris and adventures, sight-seeing, camping and relaxation. Location:

The Park is located in Meru Country in Kenya’s Eastern Province below the eastern slopes of Nyambene Hills.  The Park lies 85 Km east of Meru town .  It is managed by  Kenya wildlife service on behalf of the Central Government.

The larger Meru conservation area is a cultural melting pot and the success of the Park depends on the generosity of the local communities. To the west of the park on the slopes of Nyambene hills are the agricultural Meru with hectares of Miraa (Catha edulis)   Tea and Coffee .  Other communities bordering the park are Kamba ,the Borana and Orma pastoralists.   A visit to the Park is not only about the big five experience but also a good opportunity to meet and interact with these communities, learn about their culture with long traditions of conservation. Always bear in mind that without their sacrifice, there would be no Meru Park.

Ikweta Safari Camp is located just two kilometres outside of Murera Gate.  Ikweta Safari Camp features Ten (10) spacious tents thatched in makuti and tastefully decorated in Safari-style and with high quality furniture including either twin or double beds. Excellent meals prepared from the freshest local produce. Large swimming pool and other amenities.

KINNA Guesthouse ( High Season- Apr, Aug, Dec USD 300; Rest of the year USD 250 for entire House).  Resident Rates KES 18000 High season; KES 15000).  Built by the First Warden Mr. Peter Jenkins in the1960s, the guesthouse is 20Km from Murera gate and less than a kilometer from Kinna Airstrip. Gorilla tracking is a clean (eco friendly), multi million dollar adventure with immense economic benefits to the local community, without which the mountain gorilla conservation would be a liability.  Rules and regulations have been put in place for the safety of the trackers, the gorillas and to check adverse environmental impacts. Besides these rules and regulations guarantees the continued existence of the gorilla as species, that is to avoid the extinction of the gorillas.  This daily adventure has made the mountain gorilla one of the most expensive animals though not in league of the teddy bears.

The 4 days gorilla tracking adventures in Uganda takes place Bwindi Forest national Park and Mgahinga National Park. The tour also includes visits to the Batwa communities who have contributed much to the conservation of Gorillas.   Guests depart Entebbe or Kampala on day 1 and return on day 4.

Itinerary

DAY 1:Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park.
You will be picked form your hotel by our representative and driven to the western part of Uganda. Lunch en-route and proceed viewing a remarkable scenic view of the well terraced vegetations and long-horned cattle. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury), Gorilla Mist Lodge (Mid-Range) or Wagtail Eco-Lodge (Budget).

DAY 2: First Gorilla tracking Adventure.
Have early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters to be briefed about the “dos and don’ts” while with the gorillas. You will then penetrate through the impenetrable Bwindi forest in search of the gentle giants. This may take about 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Have a maximum of one hour with the gorillas taking observations, photographs, and watching them feed or playing around. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury), Gorilla Mist Lodge (Mid-Range) or Wagtail Eco-Lodge (Budget).

DAY 3: Second Gorilla Tracking.
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing with your packed lunch. Here you are going back into the impenetrable this time to search for another gorilla group with absolutely different characters and ways of living. Later in the evening, you will then go for a cultural walk in the Batwa (Pygmies) community to see the local brewers, traditional healers, and cultural performances. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury), Gorilla Mist Lodge (Mid-Range) or Wagtail Eco-Lodge (Budget).

DAY 4: Departure.
Take your breakfast and drive back to Kampala. You will have lunch en-route in Mbarara town. Make a stopover at the equator for photography and proceed for your flight back home.

Lake Nakuru Lodge

Lake Nakuru National Park  or  Game Park is an ornithological paradise located two hours drive, 156 Kilometers west of Nairobi on the floor of Rift valley.  The park dates back to 1961 when the southern park of the lake was gazetted as a bird to protect the “greatest bird (ornithological) spectacle on earth“, for the future generations.  In 1964, the whole of the lake was declared a bird sanctuary.  in 1968, the Lake Nakuru shores were added into the sanctuary and the whole area was upgraded to a National Park. In 1974 a northern extension was added to the park increasing its area to the current 188 Km2.  In 1990 Lake Nakuru Game Park  is a  designated a Ramsar site-  for protection of an important international wetland.

Accommodation in Lake Nakuru National is diverse to cater for different categories of visitors.  Visitors have a choice of either sleeping inside the park or outside the park.  Inside the park, there are two safari lodges, one tented camp, a private house , Kws bandas and public campsites.   The two safari lodges in the park are Lake Nakuru Lodge and Lion Hill Lodge.  The two facilities offer mid range to luxury accommodation to their guests.  The only truly mid range property in the park is the Flamingo Hills Tented Camp.  Kws bandas and campsites offer budget alternatives to locals and tourists alike. Nakuru town has both mid range and budget hotels to cater for visitors.

Lake Nakuru National Park  is a premier tourism destination attracting diverse visitors of different backgrounds and with differing interests.
